While we were in Myrtle Beach in May, Hubby and I were constantly reminded of our very first family vacation to that spot those oh so many years ago, when the boys were 2, 3 and 5.
2 car seats, a double stroller, a crib, diapers and lots and lots of tears (not just mine, either).
And now they're 12, 9 (turning 10 this week!) and 8 (turning 9 at the end of the month!)
Here we find ourselves, clinging firmly to this "sweet spot" in time with our family. The baby years are over. And we're finding ourselves on the cusp of the hormonal years. Not quite fully there yet, but catching glimpses with Eldest, who is more independent, more sharp-tongued and more apt to mutter back under his breath. This child of mine, who it seems like just yesterday lost his first tooth...
And now has an entire mouthful of braces...
These 3 boys of ours, who were once so dependent on us for everything. Feeding them, clothing them, diapering them.
These 3 boys of ours, who we had to strap in carseats and booster seats, each and every time. Who now race to the car and fight over who sits where. (And Eldest who sits in the front like an adult when he's with me.)
These 3 boys of ours, who for years and years had strict naptimes and regular bedtimes and a set schedule that Hubby and I firmly adhered to, if only to make our own lives easier. Who totally put themselves to bed during this vacation when they were tired (usually by 10pm, latest).
These 3 boys of ours, who used to need their thumbs and blankets. Who now only need their electronics.
This I know: The days drag by. The years fly. All in the blink of an eye.
And as I looked back to find old pictures for this post, I realized that someday I'll be writing a graduation post and today's pictures will be the old pictures. *mind blown*
This "sweet spot" that we're in is quite nice. I'd like to stay here.
