The Stitches Story

Well, it had been over 2 years since our (first and) only ER incident with stitches.  Which, if you think about it?  Is spectacularly GOOD for having 3 active and testosterone-laden individuals constantly racing about.

And the fact that this is only our SECOND TIME EVER??? Well, just typing that right there just jinxed me, I'm sure.

Anyway.

Our family was looking forward to a fun night out with friends.  It was with Hubby's college crew and children (most of whom we go with to Cape Cod) (and all my Girls Weekend gals) who were sooo excited to see each other and ice skate together.

We had only been there about 10 minutes when the husbands wandered outdoors to supervise the children on the ice while we wives remained indoors to drink wine catch up.  I had LITERALLY just poured myself a glass of wine when Hubby came rushing in, requesting some paper towels.  It seems Middle had fallen and was bleeding.  But it was dark out by the rink, so no one could tell how bad.

Immediately after, Middle was carried in and deposited on Hubby's lap, near the light so we could survey the damage.

Survey says, "So where's the nearest ER?"

As you can see, it was, uh, pretty apparent he needed that gash sewn shut.

So off the 3 of us went, leaving Eldest and Baby in good hands with all our friends, 20 minutes down the road to the nearest Emergency Room.

Contemplating first-time stitches

He really was a trooper.

We ended up being there for 2-1/2 hours overall.  From 7:30 to 10:00pm.  Five stitches later, he was all sewn shut!
So we headed back to our friends.  Where they had pizza (and wine!) waiting.  And a special dessert treat:

Everyone's a comedian

And now Middle is never allowed to ice skate again.  The End.

I have stitches in the same exact spot! Chin met the very corner of the floor in the gym that had a little metal bracket on it. Ouch!
