Ain't No Sunshine When She's Gone...

Sorry for the blog silence.  Our Trenches were empty, as we were away on vacation in Myrtle Beach, enjoying a week of NO SPORTS! and simple family time.

Fun vacation recap to come.

Except, you see, we got some awful news on our very last day of vacation.

Our family dog, the dog I vowed we would never have, the (adopted) dog who weasled our way into our heart(s) and home, died.

She got hit by a car while staying with my parents in upstate NY.

I can't even imagine what my parents went through.

And then having to pick up the phone to make the call to us, on vacation, to tell us.

The boyz took it not well, as you can imagine.

It was a rough end to our family vacation.

We are all so very heartbroken.

Her favorite spot next to Hubby in his chair.

She was always at my feet as I telecommuted.

 Unbelievably loved.

The last pic we have of Sunshine, happy and cozy at my parents' house.

As someone who grew up without any pets and who was never thrilled with the idea of being a pet owner, I have to admit that Sunshine quickly and effortlessly became a part of our family and we all enjoyed having her in our Trenches.

Damn dog.  I miss her.

We adopted a puppy last month (with me being the most reluctant member of our family). They do worm their way into our hearts, don't they? I'm so sorry for your loss. Sunshine was lucky to bask in your family's love.

Sorry to hear about your dog. Pets, especially dogs, truly become a part of the family.

I am so sorry to hear about your loss - and what a time to find out too! She looked like she was a very loved member of the family (funny how dogs can weasel their way into one's heart, isn't it?!)
