On Wednesday, September 13, 2006, I published my very first blog post.
(Cue the confetti.)
At that time, I was mothering 3 young boyz, ages 1, 2 and almost 5, and working part-time in a law firm.
Man, those days felt LONG (at the time) and SO LONG AGO (now).
I discovered blogging through a friend, who had shared with me the link to a blog of a mutual acquaintance. From that blog, I discovered more and more blogs. And down into the rabbit hole I fell.
Sadly, most of those blogs aren't around anymore.
There are a few, however, that seem like they have been right there with me from the beginning. Women whom I identified with in those early pioneer days of blogging (before Facebook and Twitter); women whose words I read and who read mine back; women who I have been fortunate enough to meet and consider friends; women whom I still haven't met and yet still consider friends. Women like Jennifer, Jill, Tiffany, Amanda, Audrey, Megan and Angella...and gah, so many more!
Blogging has given me a creative outlet. A way to express myself that works for me.
A chance to be more. To do more. To say more.
To meet new people. To make new friends. To carve a new identity. To travel.
To let others peek into my Trenches, so they can see that they're not alone and that our experiences are similar. That we all feel like crappy moms, guilty moms, supermoms and self-righteous moms now and again.
That we're all just doing our very best.
So thank you, thank you, thank you for reading. For laughing with me. For laughing at me. For commenting. For commiserating. For supporting.
SIX WHOLE YEARS. Wow!
