He's Going Back to Afghanistan

My family's joy over the return of my brother from Afghanistan this month was short and (bitter)sweet.

You see, he has volunteered to go back.

When he got sent home, it was unexpected.  He was mentally prepared to be there until August.
80 came home, 80 stayed.  Luck of the draw.

Except now they need 7 more to volunteer to go back until August.  And out of the 80 of those who came home, my brother was 1 of only 3 to volunteer to go back there.

His rationale is that he's single.  Not married.  No children.  And now he knows what to expect.  He knows what to pack.  He knows how it will be.  He has friends still there.  He wasn't ready to come home.  He still has a job to do.

I couldn't be prouderOr more worried.

He leaves as early as February 3.

Ugh. Your poor mom. I bet she is beside herself. I know I would be. But so proud at the same time.

Prayers for your brother.
My brother is in the Navy. He came back early from Iraq because of a medical issue, and he'd go back in a second if he could.
I would be proud, and worried, too, if I were in your shoes.
Hang in there.. I am proud of him, too. :)

I'm behind on my blog-reading, so I am just seeing this. Thank God for people like your brother, but it is not without worry. Saying prayers for his safe return come August. God Bless.
