Funk

These Are the Things I Know I Should Do When I'm In a Funk:

1.  Exercise, because the adreneline rush actually DOES make me feel better.

2.  Eat healthy, because I'm already feeling bad about myself.  Do I want to feel fat too?  Nope.

3.  Take a break and actually get down on the floor and play games with my children.  Snuggles also help.

4.  Appreciate the fact that my husband loves me no matter what.

5.  Surround myself with friends--the people who accept me for me.

6.  Keep writing, because writing organizes my thoughts and is actually very therapeutic.


But These Are the Things I Actually Do When I'm In a Funk:

1.  Pick out running clothes the night before and set the alarm.  When alarm goes off, hit snooze button repeatedly and never get up to go running.  Inner monologue:  How can I call myself a runner when I don't run?  Who do I think I am?  A FRAUD.

2.  Mindlessly eat whatever is around and constantly feel fat and gross.

3.  Busy myself with mundane housework instead of taking a break to play with kids.

4.  Take all my frustrations out on husband and act like a total bitch.

5.  Isolate myself from all my friends.

6.  Contemplate quitting social media altogether.

Oh, right there with ya, minus the running part. I am not a runner but would like to be some day. I do exactly the same thing though, I shut down. I eat everything in sight. I do chores instead of spending time with my family and I isolate myself from my friends too. Usually I can snap myself out of it.

One thing that helps me is setting a date within a few days to begin again and start over. If I don't set a date I can let it go one for weeks at a time and that doesn't benefit anyone.

Sorry you're feeling that way. I hope that helps a little, at least knowing that it happens to other moms too!

I'm sorry you are in a funk. I'm feeling it too. Hang in there and don't quit blogging. Your stories make me laugh and I need that now!

This is what I do too. Exactly. Sometimes we women can be pretty dumb.

Yeah....where does shut down, shut off come from in us??!! I believe it will pass ~ and I'm so glad I discovered blogging and started writing a bit...cause it makes a big difference to me. Hang in there.

I am right there with you. It's been a bad week and even though I know what I "should" be doing, well, that's not happening very much. I made a deal with myself, though, that if I get all my workouts in and track what I'm eating in my journal, I'm buying myself a new running shirt. Hang in there!

I've been here. Take your break from whatever (don't quit us!) - and it'll come back to ya. Believe me, no advice cuz I get there and it just takes time to get out. Marg's soon????
