On Buzzy Bees and Bad Dreams

3:43am - Small child (Baby) enters parents' room and wakes up mother.  "I think there's a buzzy bee on my blanket" he tells her.  Mother groans, sits up, and instructs child to bring said blanket to her so she can inspect.  Child pads back to bedroom, grabs blanket, and brings it to her.  She asks him to shake out the blankie to make reassure him that there are no rogue insects buried in it.  Indeed, there are none.  Child trudges back to bed.

3:57am - Small child (Baby) enters parents' room and wakes up mother.  "I think there's a buzzy bee in my shirt now" he tells her.  Mother groans, sits up, and instructs child to take off his shirt so she can inspect.  Mother shakes out child's shirt to reassure him that there are no rogue insects buried in it.  Indeed, there are none.  Child trudges back to bed.  Mother sighs, realizing that her alarm will be beeping in an hour.

4:12am - Small child (Baby) enters parents' room and wakes up mother, whispering, "Buzzy bees can't even get in my room, right?"  Mother (scream)whispers back in response, "NO!  It's winter!  It's too cold for bumblebees!  Now get your butt back in bed and don't get up again!"

4:13am - Mother is wide awake now.

4:15am - Small child (Baby) starts whimpering.

4:16am - Mother kicks sleeping Father next to her.  Mother (scream)hisses to him, "It's your turn! I have less than an hour until my alarm goes off."

4:17am - Father zombie-walks into child's room and soothes child.

4:25am - Father zombie-walks back into bedroom and crawls into bed, next to wide-awake Mother and growls, "Why'd you wake me up?!  He wanted you.  Poor little buddy said he was having a bad dream about DROWNING.  Jeez."

Mother grits her teeth and rolls over with a hrumph, wondering how her 5year old son manages to be so conniving, manipulative, and goddamn imaginitive EVEN IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT.

End Scene.

Oh, the drama! I sort of want to sleep with earplugs and lock my bedroom door.

lol - You and I are very alike. I don't do well when my sleep is interrupted...by stupid things...when my husband is sleeping peacefully next to me.

Hope the Busy Bees and drowning dreams stay away.

Oh, I feel your pain. My husband who struggles to sleep always manages to stay very quiet when a shortie enters our room with some nighttime need.
