New Feature: Fun Drink Friday!

I am all about the hunt to find new and tasty drinks--both with and without alcohol, mind you! (But uhhh...mostly with.)  So for this first edition of Fun Drink Friday, let's focus on something that's near and dear to my heart.

Wine.

Red, red wine.

Now please let me forewarn you, I am NOT a wine connoisseur.  I have tasted wine (at business dinners) that costs $100 a bottle and wine (that I normally buy) that costs $10-15 a bottle (and $15 is stretching it, thankyouverymuch).  Expensive wine does not impress me or my palate.  I feel like I honestly can't tell the difference.

I'm not a big fan of the oaky flavor in wine.  I don't enjoy the heaviness of that taste and I hate the dry aftertaste.  Instead, I prefer a more sweet-tasting (but not too sweet) red.

And this?
Is my favorite.

(Yes, that's a goat staring at you.)  This wine, by Bully Hill Vineyards, is called "Love My Goat" and it has subtle fruits and a soft finish.  It's neither dry nor sweet - it's perfectly in the middle.  I am especially fond of this brand because I grew up in upstate NY amidst the Finger Lakes, and my childhood BFF had a cottage on Keuka Lake, so Hammondsport was our stomping grounds for meeting boys during those lazy high school days of summer.

I have gotten two of my friends who never really liked red wine to admit they actually enjoy drinking this wine.

And at $10 a bottle, what's not to like about that cute little goat?

What's your current favorite red wine?

Disclosure:  Just expressing my opinion.  I am in no way being compensated for this post.  But I sure wish I was!

I'm not usually a red wine fan. I'll have to try this.

I like blush/rose wines. I know, I'm just so out of style. Whatever. They taste good.

As a former drinker who now doesn't like any alcohol (unless it tastes like koolaid) I have one wine I like - Have you tried a Malbec? So far I've tried 3 different kinds and liked every one of them. And it's trendy, especially from Portugal.

I totally agree that expensive wine doesn't taste any different. I really like Shiraz. Not too dry and bitter. But I don't really like the sweet wines either.

I'm not usually a red win drinker either. But I'd sure try your goat wine....

Try any of the Barefoot wines. My favorite is the Shiraz, but the Merlot is great too. Not too heavy, easy to drink, and about $8 a bottle, sometimes less!

Oh, I can't do red wine (instant headache), but I HAVE had Bully Hill wine! My parents spent some time there last summer and brought a whole bunch of wine home with them.

I had the pleasure of visiting the Taylor Vineyards in the Finger Lakes. I fell in love with "Love My Goat" and found out there is an interesting story behind the labels! In any event, good wine. I do tend to like the oakier, heavier reds but Love My Goat red is a nice, not too sweet, alternative. Happy toasting!

I'm a fan of the Mad Housewife wines lately. They taste okay and they're affordable, but really, I buy 'em because the label makes me feel like a super funky '50s domestic engineer every time I take a sip.

We are in a Yellowtail phase right now. But, if you are having a party and want a cheap Sangria - try Carlo Rossi's Sangria. Everyone who has tried it, loves it. We always keep a small bottle in the fridge.
