Blogging. Running. And Money.

So.  I have this amaaaaazing opportunity.  To meet new people.  To see another part of the United States.  To raise money for organ donation.  It involves RUNNING!  And BLOGGING!  How perfect, right?!

It also unfortunately involves money.  $ I need a plane ticket to get there.$

Yet it's something that I can't stop thinking about doing, ever since I read about it for the very first time.  Before I even realized that I actually MIGHT be able to participate.  Just the thought of getting out of my comfort zone, pushing my body and being adventurous makes my heart beat faster with anticipation and adrenaline.

I must secure a sponsor.  (And I have no idea how to do this without feeling icky.)

Any tips?  Recommendations?

Suggestions on how to quickly grow a money tree?
And if it doesn't work out, I will live.  I will learn.  I will simply strive to take part in this event next year.  Some way, some how.

But if you were me, AND REALLY WANTED TO PARTICIPATE THIS YEAR, how would you go about promoting yourself in order to find a sponsor?

Please feel free to e-mail me at sarahviz (at) yahoo (dot) com.

I have no idea how you go about finding a sponsor. But I hope someone in blog land has some good ideas for you! :) Good luck!

Hmmm... good question. I'd suggest a twitter campaign and maybe a 'donate' button on your own blog.

Good luck!!

Maybe you could approach the hospital your kids were born in; sounds like a cause they'd want to get behind.

When you find out I hope you post about it! Go ask Mrs.Fussypants. Invisalign just sent her and some friends to NYC (http://mrsfussypants.com/2010/03/happy-birthday-arianne/). She seems to totally know what she's doing.

How about your local running store? Or track down the social networking marketing guru at one of the big shoe manufacturers? They all have them now. General Mills has Blog Spark. Maybe they've got some kind of cool bar they want to advertise?
