A Lesson Learned (the Hard Way). Pun Intended.

Well, it happened to us.

Something I never expected to happen.

A few Sunday mornings ago.

It just took me until now to stop blushing (and shuddering) (and thinking about future therapy bills).

Coitus Interruptus.

Yep.

So, yes, that fateful Sunday morning.  Hubby and I were...uh...shall we say..."not sleeping".

All 3 of the boyz were downstairs.  Watching TV.  So we thought.  Certainly there was no need to get up and shut the bedroom door, right?

[Famous Last Words.]

Next thing I know, 4 year old Baby is standing by the side of our bed, all Linus-like holding his blanket and sucking on his thumb, his brown doe eyes gazing at us. (Thankfully we were fully covered by our duvet.)

OHCRAP OHCRAP OHCRAP.

"Hi Momma.  Hi Dada.  Can I get a snuggle in da bed wif you?"

"No buddy.  Why don't you go back downstairs.  We'll be right down, okay?"  (Hubby spoke because I was trying wayyy too hard to cover up my snorting and giggling.)

And off Baby went, shuffling in his too-long pj pants back down the stairs...

So here's a Public Service Announcement from my Trenches to yours:  It's probably best to lock your bedroom door if you're "not sleeping".  Yeah.

Has this ever happened to you? Please tell me we're not the only ones...

Close, almost, not yet because we keep our door closed.
Sorry, ah the joys of parenthood.

OH. NO.

I ALWAYS lock our door because my kids wander.

Only once did the 2nd grader say he "heard some strange noises" and couldn't sleep.

All I could think reading this was "it could have been so much worse!" Like no covers worse. Like one of the older boys coming in who might have questions and be all suspicious worse.

Ack!

That is hilarious. You absolutely made my morning with this post Sarah!

It's come close to happening.

And now the lock on our bedroom door mysteriously broke so we have to resort to the bathroom for quickies. Let me just say that "The Shred" hasn't been effective enough for me to want to watch in the mirror yet. Basically the bathroom isn't doing it for me.

That's pretty funny, but when the kids were younger, I don't think they ever came in!! Sorry!!

If the kids are up, we lock the door. But we have had an "interruption" at night. I think I looked up and screamed. But yes we were covered and he was 3 so I'm hoping we got away with that one. :)

Oh Crap is right! We have not had that issue yet, but I am terribly paranoid about it.

Not yet, but our door is always open so it's just a matter of time. Pretty ballsy on a Sunday morning though with 3 little ones. I'm impressed!!

Welcome to the club :)

It has happened when one was little but we were covered. I think Hubs said we were wrestling and to go get a snack.

the fact that you announced it publicly shows me how brave you are!

Ha ha ha ha ha! Thanks for the laugh today! No, it hasn't happened to us yet, but since we live in a rambler, and our bedroom is right off the kitchen, we always close and lock the door in the mornings if we're going to...you know.

I am barely able to type because I am laughing so hard. Because this happened to us about a week ago. Only Hubby SWEARS he lock the door and the child that walked in was my ELEVEN year old, who by the way has recently been through the maturation program st school. I was soo embarassed I couldn't look in in the eyes for DAYS. And My hubby had to deal with him I was way to BUSY being embarassed and laughing at being "caught". My though was we had gotten away with it for 11 years. Now I am the one who locks the door.

Yes, it's happened to us.

We just said that we were wrestling.

Oh man. I would've been giggling too. And yet mortified a little.

laughing.... can't stop laughing... great post....

nope, it hasn't happened. our son freaks when we kiss in front of him. he will be in therapy for years when he learns about how he was created....

My husband is an obsessive door-locker when "that" is going on. So, so far....we've dodged that bullet.

Whirlwind said...

That's why we installed to door lock.

Manic Mommy said...

A few near misses but no actual "interruptus."

If it makes you feel any better, my sister and BIL were caught in a different act. (One where my sister was unable to answer as her mouth was full). I would have to say that would be much worse...

Manic Mommy's comment (above mine) had me laughing out loud. THAT would be MUCH worse. YIKES! We've never been caught, but we lock the door. My girls are teens now and often awake at all hours. One of them did comment that she "heard" us one night! YIKES! Sassy little bugger. Now we lock the door AND are super quiet. It was much easier when they were little.

Too funny! I have no kids, but it would creep me out when the dogs would come see what was going on!

this has not happened to us yet but I keep waiting b/c while we do close the door, we forget to lock it. and that is only in the day at night its open.

J from Ireland said...

Oh my God that is so funny. Nope, its never happened and hopefully will stay that way!!
