Weekend Wrapup

All in all, a truly great weekend here in the Trenches. I'm not quite sure why I'm so Polly Positive these days (the weather sucks, the economy blows, etc.) but I'm just gonna roll with it...

I truly enjoy my little family. I love that we've weathered the storm that is toddlerhood (times three) and now appear to be headed towards some really good years with the boyz. Years spent no longer hauling diaper bags, diapers, bottles, strollers and pack & plays wherever we may venture. Sweet relief, that.

They actually play with each other. They really do.

And a weekend being housebound is no longer fraught with anxiety and dread. Instead? I relish it.

It was warm enough today (35 degrees. And yes, that's considered WARM in Massachusetts for this time of year.) for me to attempt my first run of 2009. And I did it. A 30 minute run.

Once I got out there, my mind, my soul and my heart just knew. This girl NEEDS TO RUN. I just wish my body felt the same. Ouch.

All throughout my childhood, Superbowl Sunday was a family event. A Pudgie's sheet pizza for dinner and my siblings and I watching the game with Mom & Dad.

This was really the first year I got to replicate that here in the Trenches, since in the past, we have thrown Superbowl bashes each of the years that the Patriots have made it to the big game.

This year? Absolutely no plans whatsoever. Hubby grilled burgers before the game started, and the boyz were bathed and in their pj's by kickoff.

And although we were short another tooth...
we were tall in team spirit...
And always full of silliness...

Here's hoping your weekend was just as fulfilling.

Sounds perfect.

This middle years, between the sleep deprivation and the teenage angst, they really are magical family time.

It's like you can pinpoint the start of the best of times.

I got my fill of under 12 month olds this weekend and by last night was so happy to have my 4 and 6 year olds playing nicely while eating dinner and then running off to the playroom to continue the fun.

LOVED holding the little ones, but I could give them back and that makes me realize: we're good now, thanks.

Each stage gets better, huh? Good to hear that it continues...

Nice to hear a positive, uplifting post in this time of winter blues... I for one am sick of hoping for a 35 degree day as if that should constitute warm....Bring on the 80 degree days!!!! I am ready.

You have a great little family - i enjoy hearing about them.

I've got a two year old and one on the way. Thanks for giving me hope that we're not doing it wrong and it really is a lot of hard work that leaves me regularly exhausted and doubting. Love it, but it's nice to know we have even more greatness to look forward to.
