I Am Officially Elderly

So I've been having these stomach pains...

For like a week now.

They're sharp and stabbing, knife-like pains just below my ribs.

Not kidney stones, for sure (I've had those and would KNOW if it was that.)

But I hadn't gone to the doctor. Because, hello? Knowing me, it would simply be "bowel issues." (I seriously didn't want to make an appointment, only to have them tell me, "Yeah, you need to poop.")

(Sorry for the oversharing of info there.)

Anyway, this morning, I woke up with the stabbing pains and they really never quit. But I made it to work (doubled-over) and lasted about 3 hours (such a dedicated employee am I) before I called my doctor.

So I just got home from my doctor's office. Had x-rays and bloodwork done there. Short answer? It may likely be gallstones. What am I, an 85-year old? Jeez. The x-ray showed "calcification deposits" (or something like that) in my "upper right quadrant".

I have to call tomorrow morning to get results of the bloodwork (which will indicate my white blood cell levels and/or how seriously out of whack I am) and then schedule an ultrasound for a more definitive answer.

Fun times.

Now I kinda wish it was just a Poop Thing.

I'm sorry it's not something you can fix with prunes!

Ughh, I totally feel your pain, or at least did at one point. I had my gall bladder removed 5 years ago when I was 23... Worst pain ever!

Oh my gosh! I have pains sometimes and always think it's gas, so never make an appointment. I hope it's not too bad for you.

Yuck... you poor thing! I hope you feel better soon & for the record, it's not an "old persons" issue, lol. My Mom had her gallbladder out when she was in her late 20's. We were little things when she had it done.

Heal quickly!

Ugh. If it's gallstones, it will get worse.

Big hugs.

I have my gallbladder out, 3 days after I delivered Angry Toddler.

I had 3 attacks while pregnant. I swear, everyone I know has had their gallbladder out.

Oh hon, I'm sorry. Can I bring you anything? Cookies? Wine? A hearing aid and a walker?

Oh, ouch! I just had my gallbladder out 2 weeks ago (at age 31). Gallstones hurt, I feel your pain!

Oy! So sorry. Why do we take our kids to the doctor so quickly, yet we wait to take ourselves? I would have done the same thing.

Good luck.

2 friends of mine just had their gall bladders removed and have told me that it's nice not having those pains anymore! Just so you know, they're not "elderly" at all either!

Feel better soon...

Good Lord! I had gallbladder issues when I was 25... and had it removed four years ago when Emily was not quite three months old! So if you're elderly, I've got one foot in the grave!

Luckily, the surgery is easy and the recovery is quick! Good luck!!!

Oh, so sorry! I hear you about getting old, though. My body appears to be insistent on falling completely apart before I hit 40. Gives us a lot to look forward to, huh? Hang in there!
