Complete and Utter Kodak Restoration!

So...I kinda left you hanging, huh? For all you knew, I was still lamenting the loss of my thousands of photos, tears dripping down into my keyboard as I typed with one hand and swilled whiskey with the other.

But hark! I had a rescuer! In the form of Hubby's work wife's assistant's husband. So they came over on Saturday afternoon. It so happens that they have two gorgeous girls who are the same ages as Eldest and Middle. And while the children frolicked, My Rescuer fixed the computer, and Work Wife and I chatted and drank some bottles of wine.
( Why yes, we did pay him in beer while he fixed the BLANK SCREEN OF DEATH THAT EATS PICTURES.)

And Eldest? Just may have found his soul mate. A little girl who plays baseball, jumps on the trampoline in the rain, isn't afraid of getting muddy, and loves Nintendo! (Sounds like a personal ad for a 7 year old, doesn't it?) He was smitten. And proceeded to talk about her all night after they had gone.

And my photos? All back! Except...I have a LOT of work to do. Moving files. Renaming files. Organizing files.

My Rescuer firmly suggested that we get a new hard drive AND more memory. So that is in the works.

PHEW! Crisis averted.

But more importantly, lesson learned.

Your blog is so cute! I feel your pain because we ended up with a virus a few years ago and I lost all of my sons pictures from baby to age 2. I was heart broken. Did I learn from this lesson, no becaue I again have lots of pictures stocked up on the computer and we just recently had a virus again but this one did not kill the computer so now I need to seriously find time to burn those picture to disk.

Oh! So happy you recovered the pictures. I have a FEAR of that happening to me. I should back them up right away!

YAY!! I am so happy for you! Also there is a site called carbonite that automatically backs up your files when your computer is asleep. I was going to use it but I have satellite internet and I exceeded the bandwidth. But if you have regular high speed you could try that too. I think it's just carbonite.com
