Quick! Change of topic before I start going (more) mental.
Instead, please pardon me for a moment while I spout butterflies, rainbows and unicorns. It's so much prettier. You see, my Mom is coming tonight!
To stay.
For 6 weeks.
(And don't hate me when I tell you that she does this every summer.)
The first summer she came for an extended stay like this was in 2005, immediately following Baby's birth. (My running joke with Hubby was, "Hey, you got me knocked up again FOR THE SECOND YEAR IN A ROW. Now you get your mother-in-law for the summer.")
Boy, did I ever need her then. Juggling 3 children ages 3 and under, recovering from a c-section, breastfeeding, fighting off bouts of mastitis and struggling with PPD.
It wasn't a pretty summer, that 2005.
And when she left at the end of that August? It was tough. Reeeeeeeal tough.
Our
And then?
My parents rented a place on the Cape for the first 2 weeks in August. For them and all 5 grandchildren. (Hear the choir of angels?) Hubby and I will both work during those weeks and will spend long weekends back at the Cape. Heaven.

I'm sooooo jealous! Green with envy!
ahh, that does sound like such sweet relief... ohh, to dream
Does your mom want two more? I'll even drive them to the Cape...
first i must say i am sooo sorry about the ucky commute. it is one of the reasons why i don't miss nyc - public transportation. seriously i cried the first time i missed my ferry!!
as for granny - i love it!! and i hope you enjoy every single second of it! especially the parts at the cape!!
Can I just tell you how jealous I am? Totally Green. Since this is your blog AND NOT MINE I can tell you that my mom lives 30 minutes away and DOES NOT BABYSIT EVER. "Kids are not her thing" she says which I Find ironic since she gave birth to FIVE.
Not that I'm bitter or anything.
So kiss your mama and tell her thank you. You're very blessed. :)
Wow. I cant even get someone to take my 2 overnight.
I need a weekend, just a weekend.
My Mom is coming for 5 weeks this summer, too. Cause we will have 3 babies under age 4, too! I am looking forward to some help, for sure. Aren't Moms great?
Wow - lucky all of you! Grannies are the BEST! Enjoy your six weeks - SIX WEEKS???? Can she call my mom and plant a bug in her ear???
Whoo-hoo! I bet she cleans and does laundry too, doesn't she? I am so happy for you!!!
My mom and mom-in-law are both an hour away and are good about taking the boys overnight here and there, so I can't complain. Although two weeks of just going to work and coming home to a quiet house but still getting to see the kiddos on the weekend DOES sound mighty fabulous.
Own it, girl. You deserve it!
Wow! Can she come stay with me next?
So jealous....but enjoy it!
How cute is granny? Can I borrow her? Please?
That is awesome. I am psyched for you! My mom came to my house almost every day for about 2 weeks to help me recover from my c-section & related complications. 2 under 2 isn't as bad as 3 under 3 but still...whoa.
Sweet!
Will she adopt me? Canadians make lovely children, eh.
Lucky, lucky! Free babysitting from a grandma can't be beat.
I am pretty sure Mom is an angel!
MB :o)
