Marathon Aftermath

I started a new routine today. Recently, I discovered that our main headquarters (just down the street from the building I work in) has a locker room with showers. Thus giving me no excuse to NOT work out during lunch. *sigh*

So today was my first day. I ended up sweating my tits off while running almost 4 miles around the Boston Common and Public Gardens.

And my plan is to do this at least 2-3 times a week. Plus every Saturday and Sunday.

Oh, and not-so-coincidentally, I'm running a 5K on Sunday morning. My first race of 2008.

Anyway, my whole POINT to this entry was that I could totally pick out the runners who ran in yesterday's Boston Marathon. Granted, most of them were carrying or wearing the stylish Marathon jackets but you know what was my very first clue?

ALL OF THEM WERE HOBBLING, LIMPING OR GIMPING.

Seriously.

It was just kinda funny that it was that obvious.

I went to the Red Sox game yesterday and there were quite a few people wearing marathon jackets from previous years. And it kind of made me wish I had one! But that would require actually running the marathon (I'd feel like a fraud if I just bought the jacket without running 26.2 miles) and I don't think I'm up for that!

I love Boston Commons! Especially in the spring after some Dim Sum.

I kind of have a fantasy about becoming a runner. But I get bored easily. Any suggestions?

good luck with your 5k, please let us know how it goes!

the marathon aftermath is so true! The day after my first marathon I had to slide down the steps in my house on my butt. I could NOT get my legs to function enough to walk down the steps. It was pathetic! (but still worth it!)

Good luck with the race! I only ran 4 miles yesterday (which of course is the most I've ever run) and I'm limping around here today. Yeah, the Boston marathon is a good 15 years a way at least!
