Movie Love Scenes

It's Friday night. The boyz are sleeping soundly in their beds. Hubby and I are enjoying some cocktails (Jack and Coke for him, a gin&tonic for me), and watching his favorite movie of all time...which happens to be MY favorite love scene movie:

Maverick: Jesus Christ, and you think I'm reckless? When I fly, I'll have you know that my crew and my plane come first.
Charlie: Well, I am going to finish my sentence, Lieutenant. My review of your flight performance was right on.
Maverick: Is that right?
Charlie: That is right, but I held something back. I see some real genius in your flying, Maverick, but I can't say that in there. I was afraid that everyone in the tax trailer would see right through me, and I just don't want anyone to know that I've fallen for you...

Oh.My.Gah. The tongues. The music ("Take My Breath Away" by Berlin. You are SO humming that right now). The slowness...Ahhhhhh.

In 1995, I spent 3 months of my senior year of college abroad in Melbourne Australia. (Remind me to blog about that whole experience sometime.) THIS particular love scene movie was one that we girls watched over and over, as we desperately missed our college boyfriends back in the States. We may have rewound that part about a zillion times. (Needless to say, Hubby was NOT impressed when I divulged this information, since I didn't meet him until WELL after college. Ahem.)

[And on a skeevy side note: This flick came out in 1986. I was 13. I remember seeing it at the movies. As for Katie Holmes, a/k/a Mrs. Tom Cruise? She was 8 YEARS OLD. Ewwwww...]

Do tell....What is your favorite love scene in a movie?

Hope Floats. The scene where Sandra Bullock and Harry Connick Jr. and he says, "Dancing's just a conversation between two people. Talk to me."

Oh mah gah. I don't know why, but this makes my heart just melt. Most of that movie does.

Also, The Notebook. The whole friggin movie. LOVE. IT.

I love The Notebook. The entire movie. The scene where they're in the old house... mmm, pure romance!! And then when you realize at the end that the old couple is Noah and Allie...just the pureness of that kind of love makes me fall in love all over again with my hubby each time I watch it.

LISTEN HERE!! LOOK LOOK!! The Big Easy with Ellen Barkin and Dennis Quaid! Oh My GAH! The love scene is beyond hot. And you get to see him with a shirt off a lot -- Oh my goodness gracious sakes alive!

Romantic:
In The Notebook when they run to each other outside in the rain and start kissing etc...

and

Just plain love scene:
In Sex and the City when Carrie is having flashback's to when Big and Carrie hookup in the hotel (when he's still married and she's at a hotel b/c Aiden is doing over her floor). The flashback is well...I'll keep it clean.

Oh, my GOD - that is SOOOO funny. I just saw that scene this weekend (maybe at the same time as you?!) - and it was the only part of the movie I saw - I was clicking through - and I, at first, was like, ew... I hate T.C., and ew... this speech is soooo lame, and that 80s hair made me a bit queasy, but then... THAT KISS. Whew-ee! Now that is a good kiss.

Nope! Top Gun is it for me too.

However, my best friends and I once spent an entire Friday night watching all of the love scenes in all of the movies we collectively owned... Top Gun is still the best. Oh, I'm getting all hot and bothered already!
