A Decision Has Been Made

Well, this won't be my new kitchen. *sob* (minus the ugly hanging ivy-like light fixtures dripping with cheap crystals that I would remove immediately if I were to move in...)

ANYWAY.

Major Life Decision #1 has been put to rest.

You see, Hubby and I were considering putting our house on the market so that we could buy another house in town. An upgrade.

But alas, it was not meant to be. The housing market right now? SUCKS IT!

Our house is worth at least $50,000 less than what it was worth 4 years ago. How pathetic is that?

In a way, I feel relieved. We've been in limbo for a few weeks now and I've had that song by The Clash coursing through my brain: "Should I We Stay or Should I We Go?"

The Bad: No new house with a big kitchen, 4 bedrooms and a level backyard with swingset.

The Good: Not having to get the Trenches ready to show (which in and of itself was giving me diarrhea); and hey, the new boob lights are now definitely ours to enjoy!

Ah, well, when the timing is right it will happen.

You're better off waiting until the market is better, and I can attest to what a bitch moving and showing a house is. Blech.

happy to hear that major life decision #1 has been solved...and just think when u do find that upgrade (when the market doesn't suck), the kitchen will be even better and won't have cheap crystals!!

Well at least you can consider it again when the housing market isn't SOOOOOO bad.
The thought of a transfer for us is less frightning than actaully trying to sell this house...how do you keep a house of 5 in "showing" condition?

Yes, as I am in the thick of it as we speak, I too can attest to what a bitch moving and showing a house is. We put our house on the market in January and it sold three weeks later. I was shocked. That said, we did price it to sell and took a bit of a hit, but I figure that the owners of the house we bought took an even bigger hit! But, friends of ours around here have had their house listed for over a year - A YEAR! - and have shown it exactly twice.

I think you're most likely better off waiting if you can wait given the sucky market here in MA.

It's a sucky market everywhere. Hopefully it will quickly improve and you can have your new fabu kitchen soon!

Drooling over that kitchen. Bummer.

The housing market is why we're not selling too. It's a great time to buy but not if you can't sell your own house first.

OK, so, since you're not moving right now, can you pull whatever strings are necessary to keep the housing market precisely as it is long enough for us to sell our tiny little house and buy a great-big-and-selling-for-too-little house?? Just another year....

The housing market, the economy, the unemployment...

No wonder it's so damn crowded in the margarita aisle.

It'll happen when it's right; you know that?

I LOVE LOVE LOVE that kitchen! A lot. I would eat 50k for it!

Well, maybe.

I hate this housing market. I was actually contemplating broaching the idea of selling with my husband, but then like 3 houses within our block went for sale and I decided to not even go there.

You'll get your kitchen...the housing market is sure to turn around eventually.

We decided to wait too. Plus I'm not ready to commit to having a clean house every day for showings.

Ugh... I had to show our last house while we lived in it. Four big, hairy dogs and a toddler. I confined them all to two rooms of the house at all times and wouldn't allow anyone to enter the house by the front door. I was a Nazi. I practically had ulcers. Thank GOD it sold in two days.

Your time will come, and when it does, the kitchen will be bigger and it will come with beautiful lighting. I just know it.
