A Waste of a Weekend

That's how Hubby jokingly described our little getaway, because really? We didn't do much of anything. I swear I got more sleep (Notice how it's NOT in quotation marks? Because I really mean SLEEP.) this weekend than I've had since having children. I even NAPPED, people. That's right. For 2 glorious hours on Saturday. So it was a refreshing, relaxing venture. But not very exciting. Is 35 perhaps the new 80?

Anyway, some highlights chronicling the trendsetter that is, yes, my Hubby. If you remember, it all started with the Vanilla Chai Incident...

We were at Ruth's Chris Steakhouse for my birthday dinner. Totally out of the blue, Hubby blurted, "I think I'm going to try a glass of red wine." WHAT?! My (Bud Light-Jack Daniels-drinking)Hubby? Sophisticatedly drinking red wine?! Be still my heart.

So yeah, the waitress chooses an $18 glass of merlot for him. You read that right. $18. A glass. Here's a pic:
Please note how cultured he is, swishing it around. And then? He had another. And then? He had an espresso martini. See?
Before you know it, I'll have him shopping at Banana Republic. OH YES.

Glad to hear you had such a nice weekend off. While I hope you did more than drink fun drinks and sleep, if that's all you did it still sounds like a fabulous weekend to me.

The first weekend we had free after the kids were born (actually, now that I think of it, the ONLY weekend we've had free!), my husband and I made all these plans to go hiking, rock climbing, going to dinner, maybe a movie...
We slept. The entire weekend. Except when we ordered in food. Then we ate and fell asleep.
Sounds like you had a great weekend! Good for you guys!

Watch out, Sarah's hubs, first it's the red wine and espresso martinis. But then it's man facials and waxing your eyebrows. It's a slippery slope.

(Glad your birthday went so well, hon.)

That was his birthday present to you: trying new things. I would LOVE mine to do that for me.

Eat, drink, sleep. Sounds like the perfect weekend to me. So sad.

Wow, that's a lot of booze! No wonder you didn't get any "sleep." :-))

LOL at 35 being the new 80 -- I'll be 35 in July.

Adorable!! For his birthday you can give him a cigar and a smoking jacket, perhaps?

Too funny!

Love the pictures - worth a thousand words. Hubby will be the new Roy!! haha! In my case, 36 must be the new 85 - I am still sore after a 5k on Saturday! I work out 4-5 times a week and should NOT be sore!

Sounds Glorious! I have a suggestion: in place of the AMAZING, but spectacular Ruth Chris, TRY Carrabas, just give it a try. The steaks is definately AS good, if not better than RUTHie, but half the price of the overall meal.

HAPPiest birthday to youuuu.

Doesn't sound like a waste of a weekend to me! Sounds great!! I love it when the guys start drinking something other than bud light....mine went through a phase of drinking "manhattans with crown royal" that got a little expensive. I was actually wanting him to go back to regular old beer. :)
