I was in a car accident tonight. And Eldest is running a 102 degree fever.
I'm fine though. And Eldest is sleeping comfortably (in our bed) with the aid of Tylenol.
Shall I start at the beginning?
First, Hubby called me while I was on the train tonight to inform me that Eldest was sick. Then I had to stop at Stop N' Shop on the way home to pick up ingredients to make brownie cupcakes for a co-worker's birthday tomorrow. (Damn me for being
I'm fine. Thankfully.
I totally didn't know what to do though. I've NEVER been in an accident before. So I called Hubby first. I know...hello? 911? But I did that next. Anyway, when I called Hubby (in tears) and told him, he (of course) instructed me to immediately hang up and dial 911.
Eventually, the
A policeman came. And instructed me to back my car up into the grocery store parking lot.
He took both of our licenses and registrations. (In the meantime, Hubby showed up to
As soon as I entered the Trenches, it was time to switch to Mommy Mode, even though I was still a bit shaken. My boyz, especially Eldest, needed me. They got lots of hugs and squeezes from Mommy tonight because it happened so fast. You just never know. I now realize that much more than I did earlier today.
Anyway, I just finished dealing with our insurance company. The car has a good bit of damage to the driver's side door (as in, it doesn't shut properly), and the alignment is all out of whack.
I have washed down some Advil with
The funny in all this? When I called Hubby to tell him I had gotten T-BONED, he later relayed to me that at first he thought I meant that I had gotten T-BONE steaks at the grocery store. And was thinking to himself, "Why would she do that? Were they on sale?" And then he realized what had happened. Yep, that's my Hubby.

Oh no! I'm so sorry you were in an accident, but glad you are ok. How scary. And you are so right...things happen in a blink of an eye. You just never know.
I did laugh at the T-bone steak part, though.
What a roller coaster ride you seem to be on! I felt that just reading your post, starting with the panicky "Oh my G-d, I hope she's OK" and ending with a laugh over the T-bone thing.
So sorry to hear about your accident. I'm really glad you're OK. Damn that woman!
Oh, hon... I'm glad you're okay.
Ack! I'm so glad you're OK. Try to take it easy because you will get sore. And try not to sweat any nightmares you have... it's just your brain trying to sort through all the ooginess.
I had a minor accident a couple months ago, so I know how they can shake you up. You think of all the things that could have happened....
I'm glad you're okay. I hope you're not too stiff and sore today!
DAMN--I'm glad you're ok, and I hope eldest feels better soon. What a pain, and what a b*tch that other driver was.
I would have no idea what to do either if I was in an accident...something to think about.
Glad you are okay!
I've jinxed myself too with a post about how peaceful and sweet The Baby was becoming. He was sick, grouchy and wouldn't eat until yesterday. :-)
Glad to hear you are OK! Life, in general, moves too fast! And, I can't beleive that woman actually said that to you! What a b*tch! You did make me laugh with the tbone steak though. Yum!
Hope today is OK on the back!
Oh, jinxes suck.
I was hit - not quite T-Boned, just the rear quarterpanel (a word I never even knew before then) - by a semi hauling telephone poles at the off-ramp of 495 going onto route 38 in Tewksbury - same scenario, although I was SECOND in line... that's how very extremely red the light was that the driver ignored. I was about 10 weeks pregnant at the time, so I was extra bawl-y and pathetic. And just days before that, I had been telling a friend that I'd never been in a car accident when I was behind the wheel. Hah.
I was fine. The car was drivable. The other driver was held responsible. But still. Ugh.
I think maybe you actually do deserve T-Bone steaks. Cooked by a professional. Followed by chocolate.
glad to hear you are ok, sorry you had to go through it.
Oh no! Hope you're alright today. Do you need anything? More Advil? More wine? Just ask, hon.
And I hate that freaking road. The drivers are psycho and there are too few cops around. It's a good thing you have a tank or you might have been really hurt.
So, what was her name? Would you like me to go toilet paper her house?
On my very first real outing with HRH, I was rear-ended while stopped at a red light. The bitch who hit me came out and immediately said "stopped pretty quick didn't you?" I turned on her like a first-time-mother-lion and growled "do. not. even. say. that. My 3-week-old is in the car! She just turned and got back into her car. I crawled into the backseat with HRH and cried until the police arrived.
Long story short: accidents suck
Yikes - I am so glad you are okay. The bad thing about living in Mass is the "no fault" on insurance. So the nasty lady that ran the RED light won't have to worry one little bit about her rates.
I can't believe she said that. Glad you're alright.
Thank goodness that you are okay. How frightening that must have been. I would have wanted to KILL that lady. How dare her try and lie about a yellow light! She could have really hurt you and she starts off by lying.
Whoa. So glad you're ok though!
And isn't wine lovely. She's been a good friend to me when I needed her too ;)
Oh my goodness! I hope you are feeling ok right now, and that the evil witch's insurance does not give you a hard time!
I'm really glad you're ok. How scary!
I'm so glad you're OK, Sarah! What a scary thing. And what a biotch that woman sounds like. I'm glad she's getting a citation. Leave it to your hubby to offer a little comic relief at the end. :) Rest up.
Jane, Pinks & Blues
So glad you are alright. That must have been so scary.
I love that your husband thought you bought steaks...that is great!
I'm so glad you are okay! My last accident was when I was 30 weeks pregnant with baby. The lady hit me, sent me through a wall and into a tree. I know she could see me sitting there on the sidewalk shaking and clutching my stomach with contractions and holding my 9 year old and NEVER ASKED IF I WAS OKAY. People SUCK. She told the officer it was my fault. That didn't fly with him thank goodness. I went into labor, but baby still stayed put for another 7weeks.
It makes you appreciate things that much more. Snap. In an instant things can change.
BUT LOL about hubby and the T bone steaks!
Her reacton shows that we are now so afraid of being sued or having our insurance rates go up that we have lost all common decency. Hell, how about asking if you were DYING?
Don't get me started. I got hit by a woman in traffic last year who pretended NOT TO NOTICE she'd hit me. I had to chase her down... wait, here's the whole story: http://www.sothethingis.com/Consequences.htm
At any rate, I am so glad you are sore but mostly intact. hug those boys.
I'm glad you're okay! When I was in a car accident a few years ago, I couldn't get a hold of my husband. Turns out he was taking a bubble bath. Hope your weekend is better! So where is this intersection?
Oh my gosh, honey, that is horrible!!!! How scary! I'm so sorry! And now you're stuck dealing with insurance nonsense, too - it totally stinks and isn't fair. I am so glad you are OK.
Better the car alignment than yours. Glad you are ok! MB (PS-No worries, wine flushes many medicines down...I think you taught me that?)
Oh I'm so sorry. Accidents turn me into a blubbering mess. Because they are scary. I am glad you are okay. Hope eldest feels better soon.
