Lessons Learned-The Next Morning

  • That the laws of the universe mandate that one of your children will fall ill during your first week at the new job. Middle was up last night, sounding like a barking seal, with a temperature of 101. I did the whole steamy shower thing with him around 11, crying right along with him. His breathing was quite labored. Hubby put in a call to our pediatrician because I was an emotional wreck too worried. We were seriously on the verge of taking him to the ER. Thankfully, he fell asleep, and the Dr.'s advice was to continue to sit with him in a steamy bathroom, if needed, and then go in the cold (but not outside!) Thankfully, our sunroom is chilly at night, so Hubby Father of the Year did just that. As I type this, Middle is still sleeping. Poor Middle. Tired Daddy. Sad Mommy.

Sounds horrible. And sounds vaguely familiar: the first week of work sickness. Poor all of you.

I'm so sorry. Jack's just had the same thing (croup).

The strange thing is that he was right as rain during the day, but the nights were awful.

Sigh.
