September Perfect Post Awards

The Original Perfect Post Awards – Sept ‘07 I'm awarding this September Perfect Post Award to Candace at not that i don't love my kids... for her post of perfection entitled "can you fit in my box?"

In it, Candace tackles the mommy caste system and surmises that she doesn't just simply fit the mold of one particular mommy stereotype. And who does? Certainly not moi.

Yeah, I'm not a SAHM. I fully admit that I love the balance of my work and home life. It works for me.

Yeah, I shop at The Gap. But I also love me some Tar-jay and Wal-Fart. And while I'd love to be able to attire the boyz exclusively in high-end name brands, you know what? Target brands work for me.

Yeah, I drive a Yukon. It's a freakin' gas guzzler that's a bit tedious to maneuver (as evidenced by some *cough* banged-up mailboxes), but we have 3 children in carseats and it works for us.

Yeah, I'm laid-back. Having 3 does that to a gal. I'm simply outnumbered. If I freaked over every little spill, fight or boo-boo, you'd soon find me in a straitjacket with drool running down my chin. So I don't sweat the small stuff. It works for me.

You get my point.

We're all mothers. We're in this together.

As Candace points out, we should instead "really start to celebrate our differences."

Amen, sister.

Oh, how I love me some real moms. Off to check out her post, thanks.

Can't wait to read it. Maybe you could do a post about the magic of three for someone currently overwhelmed at the thought of having to replace both cars and go from man-to-man to a zone defense.

Why *are* mothers so quick to judge one another? I hate when I do it, but I did this morning. At playgroup. I was chatting with another mother who said she is going to have her 15 month old toilet trained by the time her next baby arrives in 2.5 months. I immediately assumed that she is some kind of delusional hardliner mom. But, really, it's whatever works for her, right?

Off to read Candace's post now.

That was a really great post. Great choice, Sarah! I love how she said she comes down with whatever's on Oprah. That's so me!

By the way, I borrowed your exercise "list of advice" idea for my blog... hope you don't mind!!

We all just try to do our best - it's a treat to know other mothers who aren't trying to be so darn perfect all of the time!

Hey, if it works, it works!

Absolutely! The way I look at it is you're not going to be taking care of my kids, particularly at 1 am nor I am going to be doing that for you so everyone just has to do what works best for them. Thanks for the cooch reassurance!!!

I will so have to check that out. I am not a mom but it saddens me that it is still so clique-ish out there. I hope I find some good mom friends to hang with once I do have kids. Non-competitive would be fab. I am too tired to be competitive.

That post definitely deserved a Perfect Post Award!

Bossy doesn't judge. Being an unemployed wino can do that to a person.

I loved that post! Great choice.

If I don't get over here the rest of this week, good luck on your run this weekend!
