Oops, She Shouldn't Have Done It Again

Yeah, not impressed.

Just watched her open the VMAs.

My thoughts? (because guess what? You're reading my blog--that's what you come here for, right? My oh so deep philosophical musings on world peace politics religion Britney Spears.)

She was just going through the motions.

She didn't have any spark.

She lip-synched. Badly.

She looked like she was counting the dance steps. Like she had to think about what she was doing.

And she ran right off the stage at the end. Like she wasn't proud.

And the crowd?

Half-hearted applause, at best.

She's totally washed up. Totally.

Here's the link. See for yourself.

[What? I need to get a life? You are SO RIGHT about that.]

You hit it on the head!!! I'm in the middle of my VMA wrap up post for today, so check it later tonight. She looked like she had hangover head and didn't want to move it or else she'd hurl.
I had such high hopes and wishes. She's done. Poor girl. Poor kids.

OK, if you are lame for posting this, I'm even lamer for watching the video and then commenting!

Boy, did she realize this was a performance? She looked so uncomfortable up there, like she's never been on stage dancing before. Plus, those sound effects in the song? One sounded like someone burping, which is NOT sexy to me.

Finally, there is no doubt she has a great body, but maybe after two babies and some hard knocks, she should think twice about strutting around in barely any clothes. I just kept thinking, "she is someone's MOM!"

I think people are ready to really hate her, which sucks b/c it assumes that people really loved her before; instead, people loved her fame, and now that she has that wiff of desparation on her, no one wants to touch her. Fame must suck.

Wow! She was such a dynamic performer as a teen - even though I've never particularly liked her, it's hard to see her so lifeless and blah. I feel sorry for her! At 26, my life was still before me - taking form slowly, career, marriage, kids...and there's Britney at 26, already divorced, with two kids she doesn't know what to do with, and a fading career she's no longer interested in. She might have all the money in the world, but it seems like she's missing some things she'll never be able to buy.

Wow-pretty half-hearted. She looked like she wanted to get the hell out of there! BORING!

I liked her wig though.

totally agree.
and maybe she took a little something beforehand? just to take the edge off??

Do you think the pole dancers were enough to distract everyone from her hideous lip synch job? Why even bother wearing the mike with the box tucked in your hind-end when you really aren't using it, Brit?

And why am I even watching?

Okay - BIG DORK over here is so excited you have the link. Because I wanna see it, too!

She is so sad - she used to be adorable.

Whoa! I just watched it because I thought "it can't be that bad". But boy she sucked big time. And you didn't mention how she looks like she still needs to lose 20 pounds. A spray on tan on your stomach doesn't make the flab actually disappear.

That was painful to watch - seriously - wtf? If you know your career is riding on a "comeback" wouldn't you try a little harder? Yikes...awful..

Wow that was as bad as everyone is saying it is. She looked dazed and confused.

What I really don't get is why she's still trying to be the same person she was at 18. She's 26 now, a mom, and has been through quite a bit. She needs to look to her old mentor Madonna and learn to re-invent herself rather than try and stay a teenager.

I don't know if you can ever come back from bald, you know?

Yeah, it was bad. I was rooting for the girl too.

I missed it - I can only imagine though!

Poor, silly Britney. She never had a chance.

It was, in a word, sad.

Audrey posted about it over on our site, too!

Yeah, we're all talking about it today, but for the wrong reasons!

At first, I thought I was watching a porn movie but after watching it, I realized that the porn stars are better actors!

Okay. Either I am just a big ol prude (which I admit I sorta am) or that was trash. Since when does putting on boots with a sparkly bikini make it a performance outfit. I just thought it was really vulgur like sex was all she had to sell and she couldn't even sell that well. I agree, now would have been the time to reinvent herself.

And I totally can't believe I am commenting on this, I didn't even know the awards were on. Heh.

Just watched the clip - and you're right - pretty pathetic. She didn't look like she was enjoying herself in the least bit (like if she danced too hard, her wig would go flying or something).

The only thing I can applaude is her boldness in putting on that outfit post-2 babies. That's more than I'd ever do.

Tragic, just tragic.

It really seems as if she's lost all respect for herself and her "craft"'s like she doesn't even put any effort into it or take any joy from it anymore!

I am now convinced more than ever that she was medicated during the show. She could barely move and lip synch. She needs help!! I wouldn't be surprised if she turns out to be bipolar. MTV had to know what she was going to do..I am sure they were playing on her being sooo out of it.
