Like the artwork? It's apropos. I called my gyno for my yearly checkup today. I was informed that my last "exam" (think stirrups and counting ceiling tiles while attempting to take deep relaxing breaths) was in August 2005 for my postpartum followup. Seems I missed the year 2006 completely. Whoops.
Apparently, some things just fall completely off the radar when you have 3 little boyz... and you don't have to worry about birth control because your husband had a "procedure" (snippity-snip) that required the careful placement of a bag of frozen peas on his nether-regions...and you work part-time...and you have a hard enough time as it is just keeping track of all the pediatrician and dentist appointments in your family of 5...
Maybe I'll go bathing suit shopping on that day as well. Because I'm a masochist like that.

ugh! I have to make an appt for the same reason :(
Umm, I've got you beat so don't be too hard on yourself. My last appt was also my postpartum appointment - and my son's a wee bit older than Baby (shame on me!)
Or, maybe you just blocked it out because that type of appointment is so completely uncomfortable/awkward and there are about 50,000 other much better things to do that don't involve cold instruments being shoved in your most private of privates :)
i just did mine. Actually, I just had an IUD put in, and when they tell you this will "pinch" a "little" - OW!!! I got through it all reminding myself that a mile away my husband was undergoing knee surgery (of course, he was knocked out, lucky guy)
I have no idea about where I am with that appointment. I keep forgetting to make the dentist appts. though. It is insane keeping it all straight. I would go treat yourself to a margarita after your appt.
It's been much, much, much longer than that since I had one. I know, shame on me. Is there anything more degrading than a pelvic exam? I really, really loathe them.
I had my "female" appointment a few weeks ago. I hate when they try to talk to you while performing the pelvic exam, when all you want to do is bite your lip and hold on 'til it's over.
Jane, P&B Girls
i got mine coming up in less than a week. i know what you mean about time slipping away.... but somehow after having two kids, a pelvic exam and papsmear seems insignificant. it's the getting in there to get it done that's significant.
Oh.
Funny little story about the snip.
My cousin had that done and celebrated in copious glee.
Baby is due in a few months.
Missed the follow-up appointment. You know, the one to make sure the swimmers weren't swimming.
Now remove your jaw from your desk and get back to work.
You should space the pelvic exam and the bathing suit shopping at least a week apart. It's too much degradation all at once. Unless, of course, you have the body of a twenty-year-old with no trouble zones. If that's the case, go shopping immediately after the exam and be sure to buy two, really expensive bikinis.
Well if you're already going to be in humiliation mode, why not!?
I had one scheduled for today, perhaps even in the same practice where you go and I cancelled- I shit you not- because i was feeling "Not So Fresh" and I thought "I can't deal with this" and I went for a massage instead.
How bad am I?
Kudos to you and the other moms out there!! I can't fathom what it is like to give birth. The gyno is bad enough for me!!
Go for a TRIFECTA and schedule a bikini wax for that day, too!
sigh. That picture will be in my head all day now.
I've had to reschedule my yearly exam several times and I have to get off my butt and just do it.
You are too funny.
I make sure I go annually. I book it way ahead of time.
Hate it too.
..and lol about the V
I have a story about a 3 rd child after a V as well.
Oh well. Combo that with time of month and you'll be fine.
