Elmo. Adored by youngsters worldwide. Loveable. Non-threatening. Just sitting there. Hanging out. Seemingly innocuous, right?
Cut to Elmo the lawn sprinkler in action. A whirling dervish of fright, much like the girl in the Exorcist, head spinning around and around, spewing liquid everywhere. Inspiring pure, unadulterated terror in my backyard.

Awww, poor guy, but that's a pretty funny way recounting the story! It's funny how kids react to things.
On the other hand you now have a very good threat to pull out of the bag when he refuses to clean his room! ;)
My kids are outside right now discovering that the coldest substance on earth is, in fact, water directly from the hose into the wading pool. And every time they stick their feet in, they're surprised.
Poor lil' guy! Isn't funny how we think our kids are going to love something, and it ends up scaring the crap about of them?
