No vegging in front of the TV last night for me. Instead, per Hubby's request, I sat with him while he paid the bills, so I could get a sense of how much money we (don't) have. He's a control freak (and a banker) so he deals with all the monetary matters in our household. I simply hand over to him my receipts for purchases, withdrawals, etc. And I'm one who PREFERS to stick my head in the sand. If I don't know something, then I'm less likely to worry about it. In other words, ignorance is bliss for me. Well, all that has changed. Ugh. I now know exactly how much we pay for cable, phone(s), electric, oil (holy crap--it better be a MILD New England winter this year!), mortage, home equity, car(s), etc., etc. And it's not pretty. I think I've stated before, I think money COULD buy happiness. I'd love to give it a shot! Because this reality bites.
